Blaney Rebounds from Handling Issues and Penalties for Seventh at South Boston
Solid Top-10 Finish Helps Blaney Make Strides in 2011 PASS South Points Battle
After struggling in qualifying on Saturday, August 20th at South Boston Speedway (VA) in the PASS South event, Ryan Blaney and his #10 DB Racing crew got his car handling as they wanted and he was poised to make his move to the front of the field before a wild restart changed his plans.

“We didn’t really qualify too well,” explained Blaney.  “We started off ok, just kind of biding our time at the start a little bit and being careful.  Then the car started to get pretty loose on us by lap 30, so we came in and made a few changes.  After that it got pretty good and we were working our way up through the field and with about 40 laps to go we were running down that front pack.

“We were fifth with 40 to go and the caution came out and then it all went downhill from there.  “We got put in a three-wide situation on the restart and we were stuck in the middle and got into somebody and spun them out.  They made us come down pit road for a pass through penalty and we could just never get back up there in the time we needed.”

Despite not bringing home the trophy, Blaney still managed to salvage a solid points night.

“It could have been a really great points night,” said Blaney.  “But I think we still gained a little bit on Jay (Fogleman).  We definitely could have gained a little more if things would have gone a little more our way, but we’ll go to Ace and see if we can gain a little bit more on them there.”

Blaney will hit the track again on September 3rd when the PASS South Super Late Model Series heads back to Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, NC.
