2010 has already been a great season for Ryan Blaney - who has quickly become a dominant force in the Super Late Model racing world.  After his first career Late Model win in March, Blaney has added three more victories to his resume.  The most recent one came on Saturday night in the PASS South Daniel Boone Classic 125 at the Newport Speedway (TN).  Blaney waited until the final restart to jump out in front to score the win in the Volunteer State.

“It was an up and down weekend for us, so to be standing in victory lane at the end of the night says a lot for our team,” said Blaney.  “The last restart could have gone either way.  I was side-by-side with Justin Wakefield and he spun his tires.  From there, I had him by half a length on the high side going into the first turn.  He then fell back like he missed a shift and we made six more laps and got the win.”

The day wasn’t a cakewalk for Blaney and the rest of his race team. Practice went well until he qualified 10th for the race.  Luckily, Blaney got a good redraw and got to start the event from the third spot.  Things weren’t any easier from there as the problems continued.
“Our tire bleeders were really hindering our restarts and we would lost track position on restarts and then have to fight to get it back,” added Blaney.  “We got back up to sixth around halfway and I just figured that was about where we were going to finish. Jamie Rouleau, my crew chief, told me to stay calm and everything played into our favor.”

Blaney has had an amazing 2010 season statistically with four victories and seven top five finishes in 13 starts.  Blaney has shown success in several different series on several different types of racetracks.

“Rouleau and all the guys we have working on this team are just the best,” said Blaney. “We can go to any type of track and contend for the win.  We won at Hickory, which is flat and slick.  Greenville was also a flat-track win, but Newport was a high banked track with lots of speed.  No matter what the track is we can contend for the win.  That’s what makes this team so good and we’re excited to go to South Boston and try for three PASS South wins in a row.”

Ryan’s next race will be on Saturday, August 28th at South Boston Speedway in Virginia for the next PASS South event.  Blaney looks to better his eighth-place finish form a year ago in the 150-lap event.
