Blaney Heads Back to Dillon Motor Speedway Looking for Repeat Win
Blaney looks to sweep at Dillon Motor Speedway.
Dillon Event Has Been Postponed Due to Weather
Ryan Blaney knows how to get around Dillion (S.C.) Motor Speedway. He proved that last March, winning his first Pro All-Star Series (PASS) race at the 4/10-mile track.
Now, the Ohio-native-turned-North Carolinian is looking to repeat his win this weekend in the South Carolina Clash 150.
“We tested there about a month ago and I was really happy with the car,” said Blaney. “I’m really looking forward to going back to Dillon and hopefully getting the win.”
During the test Blaney and crew chief, Shane Tesch, found that the track is really starting to come into its own after being repaved in 2007.
“It’s starting to put rubber down and gain some grip,” said Blaney. “I think there’s going to be a second groove this year. I kind of found that in my test and I was able to run up a lane.”
“I think it’s going to wide out into a two groove kind of race,” he continued. “It’s going to be real exciting to come watch.”
Coming off a top-10 finish at Anderson (S.C.) Speedway, a place notorious for tire wear, Blaney knows that Dillon won’t be much kinder.
“Tire wear’s a little bit better at Dillon, but it’s still really abrasive,” he said. “I made a big mistake at Anderson, wearing my stuff out way too soon. It prepares you even more and kind of wakes you up about how easy you have to go.”
Tires aside, Blaney is ready for this weekend’s events. The South Carolina Clash 150 is scheduled to go green at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
