Blaney Nearly Beats the Bad Luck at OCS
Late Race Damage Drops Blaney to 11th
Ryan Blaney had to overcome a mishap before time trials at Orange County Speedway (NC) on Saturday. A broken clutch was changed, but still a qualifying spot outside the top 20 left Blaney with a long road ahead in the PASS South Orange Blossom Special 125.
In the final laps Blaney was battling for a top-five finish, but contact with the wall left him on pit road when the checkered flag flew, leaving Blaney 11th in the final rundown.
"After all that had happened we were battling for a top-five spot," said Blaney. "We had made some stops to work on the car and we had a bunch of cautions and we got back up to what would have been a great finish. We got outside of second and we got put into the wall. We could have finished better."
The finish marks the second time in as many races that Blaney has run into some tough luck and been involved in wrecks on the track.
"I don't know what to say about the last two races," said Blaney. "Maybe things have been too rough, maybe I need to change the way I drive. It's just bad luck. We'll turn it around here soon. "
Blaney will head out of town for the next show as he will be off to Indianapolis, Indiana for the CRA Super Series Seal Wrap 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway on Sunday, June 12th.
