All of the makings of a solid finish were there for Ryan Blaney when the PASS South Super Late Model Series visited Wake County Speedway in Raleigh, North Carolina for the Capital City Clash on Friday night.  Blaney placed within the top 10 of each practice session, time-trialed third and started fifth after the redraw.  With the first 35 laps of the race, Blaney already found himself in the second position and looked to be a threat for the victory.  Just before the 100-lap mark, Blaney worked his way into the lead.

Unfortunately though, the race lived up to its title of a “clash” for Blaney.  With four laps to go, he got together with John Stancill as  the lead pack jockeyed to decide the race winner.  Blaney spun around and ended up with a finish of ninth.  It was the second year of visiting the track when Blaney saw a strong run ended by bad luck.

“I'm pretty glad there's only one race here a year at Wake County,” said Blaney.  “I'd like to come back  and win one of these races here, but that's how it goes I guess.

“We had a really good car in the beginning and I was trying to save my tires for the end.  I think I just messed up and turned down on him.  People say he ran into me, I don't know.  We should have had a strong finish but mess up at the end”

Blaney's next PASS South event comes at Concord Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, but he will be back in the saddle the weekend prior to that on two occasions with the CRA Super Series.  CRA is hosting a Southern double-header at Tri-County Motor Speedway on Friday, May 23rd and at Hickory Motor Speedway on Sunday, May 25th.  Blaney will bring his DB Racing #10 machine to both events, hoping for another victory to add to the resume in the 2010 season.
