For the first time this season, Ryan Blaney left a PASS South event scratching his head while wondering what went wrong with his race car. Blaney rolled into the second event of the season at the fast Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, North Carolina looking to better his seventh-place finish from there earlier in the season. When the race ended though, Blaney missed the top 10 by one spot and had to settle for 11th.
“Our car was really good early on and we were quickly picking them off one at a time,” said Blaney after the race. “We had a restart around lap 44 and the car just went away. I am not sure what it was, but it was a handful after that. It was almost like something broke because it got tight then it got really loose.”
Blaney managed to avoid major problems and actually gained points on the point leader, Preston Peltier who finished one spot behind him, but he lost ground to race winner Andy Loden as they all prep for Greenville-Pickens Speedway on Friday.
Ryan Blaney Settles For 11th With Ill-Handing Car at Orange County
Ryan Blaney was 11th at Orange County Speedway (NC).
“We used the rest of the race to try some stuff on the car and hopefully we can put this behind us and go to Greenville and get a win,” said Blaney. “We have a really good team and our crew chief Jamie Rouleau is really good at Greenville, so we like our chances.”
The Firecracker 125 on Friday, July 2nd at the Greenville-Pickens Speedway will be the next event for Ryan Blaney and his Super Late Model race team.
